The Laubach Block in 1874

The Laubach block as it appeared in 1874. At this time William still has the small 28 feet store front on Northampton street.

In 1881 he would extend the back of the store all the way to Pine street yielding a total store foot print of 28' X 220'.

In 1891 he would purchase the Hunt Building on the corner of Northampton and Bank streets.

In 1895 and 1901 he would add additional space by acquiring two more buildings on the west.

In 1910 the Hunt Building would be torn down and an addition put onto the main building achieving a uniform front of 107 feet.

In 1915 a seven story structure was added along Pine street to be used for warehousing and workrooms.

In 1916 William purchased the Clifton property which extended all the way to Pine street.

By 1918 the store complex would encompass the entire block except for a 28 X 70 first floor on the corner of Bank and Pine.
